Rulings and Reminders: - Invocation of Nehek MAY be cast into close combat. - Vanhel's Danse Macabre MAY be cast into close combat. - If you own a copy of the large hardback Warhammer rulebook please bring this with you to the tournament (you may be able to score extra points with it). - Make sure you bring the army book of the army you are playing and all relevent rules for your army (i.e. dogs of war, etc). Sadly I have a very important Keeper-league Fantasy Baseball draft tomorrow at 2PM, so you'll have to find someone else to lose to. - Larry On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Does that mean other spells, such as "Wall of Fire" can be cast into combat as well? Is it only specifically magic missiles that cannot be cast into combat?

As a tournament organizer, Kevin can say anything and have it be a rule. He could say that anyone with the name of Birdoff automatically losses the game unless he wins by a massacre, etc. As for justification, while nice it's not necessary. You should vote with your feet .

As stated earlier, I've done my own research and the playtesters played it that both spells could be cast into close combat. It is certainly possible this was changed at the last moment, however, Rob pointed out to me last night that if they did change this from the last edition, GW would probbably go out of their way to note something like "Note this spell may not be cast into combat" so not to confuse veteran players. In any event, it is my opinion that the intent of the designer was to be able to cast these spells into combat, so I'm ruling that they can. I do fully understand that according to RAW they cannot, but for this tournament I am ruling they can. Kevin out Common Goblins iz da best!
