Galaxy of War!
In a relatively inactive part of the galaxy, warp anomalies have interfered with long range communications for some time. Various races have taken an interest for different reasons. After establishing bases in different solar systems, military forces have begun to probe for the source of the disturbance. Some made progress, turning up clues that motivated further investigation. Although instead of normalizing the situation, they errupted in a Galaxy of War.
As the campaign progresses, a few generals will uncover more clues that reveal the nature of the situation. Those generals will be notified in secret. It'll be their choice to either keep that intel a secret, reveal it publically, or manipulate it to their purpose.
In the end, each will venture into the heart of the cause and take matters into their own hands, via an HQ Battle Royal!
