After some reconsideration, in order to avoid excluding players who can't field as much as they'd like, I think we should make this a 3,000 pt tourney. No holds barred, except for eye gouging, junk kicking, and no more than 1 of the same special character for each player/army.
Owning or knowing the Apocalypse book is not mandatory, but recommended. The only acceptable sources for data sheets are from that book, anything from GW's website, and the Imperial Armour Apocalypse book from Forgeworld. All will be available at the tourney, but if you plan on using a datasheet, please bring your own copy. If you have any questions, please feel free to post here.
Painted armies are NOT required, but if you bring a fully painted & based unit or vehicle, you'll be judged on it before we start playing, but if there are people running late, we might vote when we take our lunch break. Everyone will have 2 special "Painting raffle tickets" to give to players who they think have the top 2 painted units in the whole tourney. A bonus Painting raffle ticket will be given to players that bring a fully painted & based Apocalypse formation to be judged on painting, based on the acceptable data sheets mentioned above. A blister will be awarded to the winner of the Best Painting Raffle.
Due to the nature of a big team slugfest such as this, the overall winner of the grand prize, a "battalion box", aka: a small army box, will be determined by raffle. The next prize after that is usually a "regiment box", but we might change it to blisters if we have a lot of people show up. The more people we get, the more prizes GW sponsors.
You win 1 raffle ticket each time you …
During the game - each player - Kill an enemy general. Each player must have 1 HQ designated as the army general. - Capture & hold an objective in "No Man's Land" or in the enemy deployment zone at the end of the game turn. Objectives in your own deployment zone do not award you raffle tickets, but they help you win the game.
End of game - each team - Claiming a table quarter, which requires that no enemy scoring units occupy the same quarter. Note that this is not "claiming the most table quarters". Just claim a quarter, and everyone on your team gets a raffle ticket. - Winning the game, by claiming the most objectives.
Things to note about Apocalypse games. - The "table" will be comprised of 3 … 2 tables side by side by the long edge, and a 3rd table will have it's long edge up against the 2 short edges of the other 2 tables. There will be a space in between the 1st 2 tables with bridges connecting them. Everyone should be able to reach 4', so all parts of the table will be accessible. We'll have 2 of these "tables" for 2 separate games.
- We'll be following all the deployment procedures outlined in the book. So that means I'll roll a scatter die in the middle of the table, etc, etc, to determine how the table will be divided into 2 big deployment zones. The lane dividing them will be "No Man's Land". The book says it's a 12" wide path, but we're going to make it 18".
- Each team will secretly decide how many minutes (1 to 30) it should take them to deploy. Without going into all the details, this will determine which team will deploy 1st and which will have the 1st turn. Anything you don't deploy in time will be in reserve.
- Half of each army's reserves will automatically come in Turn 2. The rest will come in Turn 3. Deep Strike and (I think) Infiltrate are allowed.
- Stragglers will be allowed to play, but must join as reserves.
$15 pre-paid to Compleat Strategist is heavily recommended;
no refunds. We're promoting this to try and sell it out at 20 players, so get your name on the list with Danny or
Mike by calling them at 212-685-3880.
Please show up at 10 to start setting up your best painted units and determine who you'll be teamed up with. We'll start at 10:30. Lastly, please post what army you'll be bringing. I'd like to get an idea of head count.

I just spoke with Mike. There was a little bit of confusion. I explained that Apocalypse is strictly 40K, and the Fantasy tourney is 'Ard Boyz. You should
be able to have your name on the list and pre-pay. If you get resistance from another employee, or from Danny, please explain that Mike & Lou said we can
start pre-paying for this tourney.
Glad you can make it. You should show up for regular games dude. My Necrons need new bodies to disintegrate.

Hello all. Let's start signing up for this one & pre-paying. Not only are Danny & Mike wondering what kind of turn out we'll have, but we
need to know to setup the tables. Thanks!
Mike Staten, thanks for signing up, but can you call CS to pay? Please, pretty, please? |

What up dawg? It's tough to say cuz there are some people that have been waiting to see if real life will get in the way, but I'm GUESSING about 10-12
people. Also, 4 clubs were invited and their players don't post here, so who knows. Good luck for your event. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Max.
Vinnie, I lowered it to 3,000 pts, just to make sure we don't exclude anyone. Thanks for coming! |

As of yesterday, we had 9 or 10 people signed up. I'm hoping for a few more from other clubs plus various stragglers, so this is turning out to be a nice
shindig.
Max is 20, so bring it on peeps. |

This was pretty damn fun. The forces of evil + indifference won out which is always good and Apocalypse on that sort of scale is a blast. Steve I'd also
love to see some of the pictures you got, particularly of all the crazy giant crap that was flying around the table.

Woohoo! Yes, pics would be great.
I'd like to thank each and every one of you that showed up for the tourney. We had a decent turn-out with 12 players, including myself. We played on 1 huge table … 2 we together at the long edges, but with space in between and two large bridges connecting them. Plus a 3rd table's long edge touching the short edges of the other two. We had some room to spare.
We finished 4 turns, which isn't too bad. I was shooting for 5 or 6. We can save some time next time by pre-determining the "no man's land" zone on the Thursday before we play, plus getting the scenary in place too. But it all went well. The "shut-up & deploy" strategic asset was cool, as was the smoke screen. Now that we've familiarized ourselves with them, we should use the recommended amount of assets next time.
And by "next time", I'm thinking we can do a non-tournament mega-battle once a month. Maybe by strictly focusing on killing army generals, we can generate raffle tickets that way to see who can win a blister.
So the armies were the "good" (marines), the "bad" (chaos, orks, & eldar), and the "ugly" (tyranids).
Team 1 Lou - Orks, including a Big Mek's Stompa Scooter - Orks, including a Big Mek's Stompa George - Chaos Nate - Chaos Pete - Chaos Vin - Eldar
Team 2 Duncan - Marines Steve - Marines Gary - Marines, including his Thunderhawk Zach - Marines & Tyranids (?) Ottie - Tyranids Mike - Tyranids
Vinnie won a battalion box. Nate won a regiment box. I won a blister for the painting raffle.
Hope to catch you guys for a regular game on Thursdays. Hopefully,
there will also be enough interest for an Apocalypse game once a month. Maybe we can see a Tyranid monstrous creature next time?
Mike, Ottie, & Zach, if one of you can IM me your email addresses through Yuku, I can keep you updated on future events.
Thanks! |

well, the bad guys won on our turf as well. but hey, I took a tally of three super heavys and countless nids with just my marauder destroyer! the warhound
knocked over one of it's "dark brother's" if you will and my krieg armored company didnt even take a casualty! (granted I was on the sid of
the board that didnt see much action but hey.) I think the greatest thing
I pulled was blowing a nurgle baneblade on a glancing hit. pow! |
