Between screening and other available cover saves, and the addition of the ability for infantry to run units like Repentia and swarms of zealots seem like they are more viable elements in a Hunters list. Run and a new vehicle chart also ups the value of Penitent engines as well, seemingly significantly. With units like exorcists and seraphim for tank hunting, as well as your basic sisters squads for objective grabs and other purgation goodness it seems like there are the makings of a pretty varied and potent force that moves away from the tried cut and paste easy bake. I was wondering if anyone has tossed around any specific list ideas (I know I've seen Pete and others have mentioned related things here and there). What other elements would your list incorporate? How about Grey Knights, marines and IG - any inclusions there? All thoughts and comments are appreciated. I'm not necissarily looking for the most fat free ideal, but thinking more about how one would make sisters more interesting. Posts: 6192 (08/04/08 17:42:08) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I think lists that include stuff like penitent engines (h2h walkers in general) are much nastier now. 6 penitent engines will make for a nasty list. Throw in some zealots to swarm objectives and some mobile sisters to take them, and you're certainly onto a nasty nasty close quarters list. You really don't have to do an easy bake oven list to field an effective sisters army anymore. I also think tank hunting can be done in h2h now. If a tank is going to be shooting, it'll be moving slowly. Then you crunch it up close against weaker armor. You don't have to "waste" your heavy slots on exorcists to get rid of tanks.

I'd probably play it with a unit of storm troopers back to secure the objective, going to ground if necessary to stay alive. I like the idea of a zealot swarm. Play 40K: Leave the scroll caddies behind!

Posts: 2568 (08/04/08 19:44:23) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I saw a concept for a sisters mech army on Dakka awhile back that stuck with me--I wish I could remember who actually plays it. 5 immolators, 4 rhinos, 3 exorcists. Celestians and HQs in the immolators, sisters and stormtroopers in the rhinos. No seraphim--celestians tarpit CC units until the shooters get there to finish them off. It might need some tweaking for 5th, but I think the idea of maxing on immolators is key for a sisters mech list. Walkers are better than they used to be, but they're still not as fast as a vehicle that moves 12" and then lays down a heavy flamer template that rerolls wounds. Plus whatever the sisters shoot. With long-range antitank fire getting nerfed, Stormtroopers would be more important in the list than ever. A min sized squad of ISTs with two meltaguns in a rhino is about sixty points cheaper than a min sized sisters squad in a rhino (with only one meltagun max). IST suicide squads for antitank, sister troop units for objectives and consolidation. I was considering building it myself, since I really like combined arms and mech armies. But I don't know if I'll ever get to it. -Tom

But I'm still of the opinion that mech sisters are the way to go. It moves quickly, has resilient troops, and lots of tricks to expose hth armies to their formidable short ranged shooting. My first version will likely be just tanks, angels, and exorcists. I'm not at all sold that penitent engines are any good. They're still AV10 open topped vehicles. Yes, they are more survivable than they were, but they've only shifted from 'dead immediately' to 'dead when they need to be'. But I haven't played a single game of 5th yet, so I'm probably full of poop. Ed Maule, Warmonger Club Champion two times running.
